We had a fantastic weekend! Really, so many positive things came together that I am filled with hope. In my darker hours I tend to believe that we will never get a life going up here, but God just filled me up with so much hope this weekend that I am Certain that we will get our little life going (and soon! I think).
We spent time on Saturday looking at homes. Some old (and by old, I mean 1910s), some new (condo living), some in between. And, my little heart desires a house, a neighborhood, and trees. I know if we need to, we can live in a condo, but I'm holding out hope that we'll find a home. The houses in our price range tend to be, like I said, old, which equals - Character! And, old rambling neighborhoods (not pristine subdivisions which are Everywhere here); we looked at one by the Fox River where you can canoe and pick blackberries! I really think that we'll find something wonderful!
And, we found a church we want to go to again! I don't know if it'll be our new home, but, it looks like it could be! How cool is that?! It is the first place we've been to up here that felt like it was a family; it wasn't full of pretense - just a bunch of friends worshiping together. We really got the sense that they do life together. The main pastor guy didn't preach on Sunday so we're excited to hear him next week (hopefully). He's a DTS alum and Mike's spidey sense tells him that this pastor may be Very Much like Fred (our old pastor at Midland Bible). It is such a blessing to be married to a discerner - Mike can just tell. So, when we get out of a service and he says that this very well could be the church that we're going to find a home in, I get Really Excited. It's called Riverside Community Church. http://www.rccstc.org/
And, Clara is at the starting stages of crawling! Praise God!!! I knew she'd crawl before she turned 1! We were at a little party thing and Clara was wiggling around like a little worm and Mike said that she'd be crawling by the end of the weekend (spidey sense, again). Lo and behold, she is...kinda. Its a start, though, and Mike got to see it! So fun!
Oh, yeah, and we went to this Beautiful Place called Cantigny. Gorgeous. Its one of those places that was a mansion turned museum with grounds. And gardens - tons of beautiful gardens and lawns and wildflowers. And, tanks?! They had like 7 WW2 tanks. So fun, and So Beautiful. I'll try to get some pictures up - especially for my friends in the desert.
