Nana's Visit
Clara's Nana from Florida was in town for a visit this last week. We had a super-fun time with her and I know that Clara loved every second of her visit. In preparation for Nana's visit, we taught Clara how to say "nana" which, along with a kiss, melted Darlene's heart for ever!
Clara got to take Nana to her library where she got her first scab - it's a little known fact that books are Dangerous! You'll notice it in all of the pictures above her lip - not to worry, she's fine.
Nana was gracious enough to give Mike and I a night away to the city to hear probably the most amazing concert I've ever heard. No joke, it was breathtaking. Mitsuko Uchida played (and conducted from the piano) two Mozart piano concertos. Mike planned this special evening complete with a gourmet meal (best salad I've ever had: beat, bleu cheese, shaved fennel, and water cress) and the symphony. He heard Uchida play in New York last year and I'm telling you - if you Ever have a chance to hear her, it is so worth it! Her playing is so organic and fluid and character-full and tender - I don't even have the words. Best performance I've Ever Heard! I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful husband!
We also went to the Shedd - see blog post below.
And, we went to my folks for dinner after our weekly Growing Kids class. I was so happy that Darlene got a chance to sit in on one of our classes and see what we've been learning.
The highlight of the trip for Clara, I think, was the fact that she got to sit in her Nana's lap for hours and hours (I am so not exaggerating) reading books. I now have incontrovertible evidence that Clara's appetite for reading is Insatiable.
We had such a wonderful visit, Nana, and can't wait until you come again!
