"FBI, CIA, LSD, LBJ...ENFP, ISTJ?"

Today in Sunday School we talked about ways in which people are different, more specifically, how personality types differ. The point was to illustrate how people are all different in the way they perceive, process, interact and are energized to action. In the Church Body, or "Body of Christ," as some say, the design is such that each individual brings a unique set of strengths and talents (and weaknesses), which fit with the traits of others to benefit the whole body. (The whole thing about an eye does the seeing and is a pretty cool part of the body, but can't walk around without the foot, and vice-versa.) We hit on the Kolbe traits - Quickstart, Follow-Thru, Fact Finder and Implementor, and Katie and I are realizing that we should go ahead and get our "Kolbe's" done before we leave Midland. I have always supposed I was high Quickstart & Implementor and low Follow-Thru, but you never know.

We also touched on the Myers-Briggs stuff which offers a four-part result - more an indicator of personality than the Kolbe, which is geared towards determining the kinds of motivating energies that drive people's actions. I think for a work environment, the Koble seems awesome, but the M-B stuff is neat, and fortunately, a test that is found for free online!

We got home and each took the online version of the M-B. The results are pretty funny in terms of how descriptively they sum up the good, bad and ugly of our personalities, and as we read out loud each others' descriptions, a number of laughs were shared.

Katie
ISTJ, Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging (Introverted Sensing with Extraverted Thinking)
This one is described as the "Duty Fulfiller." A description is here.

Mike
ENFP,
Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving (Extraverted Intuition with Introverted Feeling)
Described as the "Inspirer." A description is here.

Anyway, looking into this stuff really made for an interesting afternoon and as we talked about our make-up, how these personality traits affect how we interact with each other was amazing to see. You may notice how we each share no common "letters?" Then consider the fact that each position of the four letters can be one of two options, either an I or E, then either an S or N, etc... We are definitely an interesting match!

You can take a Meyers-Briggs here.
