Many of you know, but our days in Midland are now seriously numbered. We're moving to Chicago! Well, Elgin, more specifically. I have taken a position with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra as Marketing Manager, and I begin July 2nd! http://www.elginsymphony.org
Leaving Midland, particularly all of the friends and church family we have been completely blessed with is going to be very difficult, and was a big force pushing against the decision to move on. The ESO looks to be an amazing opportunity for the goals I have set in my career, and having Katie's folks in the immediate area is going to be a big help and a positive thing for Clara. I also am excited for Katie to have the chance to move forward in her playing with all of the opportunities the Chicago area present for musicians.
The season starts on Sept. 15th with a Gala Concert & Celebration featuring Itzhak Perlman performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto! It pretty much is a huge way to kick-off the next season of our lives.
The next few weeks are going to be pretty intense... packing, selling our house, moving, buying something up there, unpacking and getting comfortable with a new orchestra and new job. Things have begun to wind down at the MOSC for me, and it's sad to leave after all the time and effort I put into things here. I think things will continue to move in a great direction in Midland, but it's tough to say bye. Maybe a smaller orchestra is a place where it's easier to become personally attached to the work done and the progress seen, but hopefully there will be a place to put heart and soul into my work in the larger organization of the ESO.
Wish us luck, drop us a line, and keep us in your thoughts and prayers. There will be new challenges, old challenges, new joys and old joys ahead...
