Clara and food - or more precisely, Clara and the tantrums surrounding the eating of the food. Lunch time today lasted an hour, at which point Mike said that I needed to cut it off. The menu: rice cereal and THE MOST DISGUSTING AND UNBELIEVABLE UNFAIR VEGETABLE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD (aka squash) This is tough, I must say. She's sitting there in her high chair, staring right at me, and screaming/crying/pouting out that lower lip further than I've ever seen and I, much of the time, stare right back at her crying and praying for some wisdom. I mean, really, just trying to get her to eat some squash and cereal. And, yet, I also understand that it is not at all about just getting her to eat some squash and cereal. If that's all it was about, I could get that food into her mouth one way or another. It's about parenting that little heart of hers - teaching her right from wrong. And there are times when I wish it was just about squash - because who cares about squash? However, the Extreme Drama surround the squash helps to further confirm in my head and heart that it is Absolutely Necessary, no matter how uncomfortable and challenging for me personally.
Any advice from you mothers out there? Thanks!
