Visit from Nana!

Last week, Clara's Nana from Florida came for a fun-filled week long visit! We all enjoyed ourselves so, so much and got to go on lots of adventures. We took Nana to the DuPage Children's Museum, the Brookfield Zoo (so far, my Favorite Place for kids in Chicago), the park, my folks, and our usual haunts near home. Clara was fighting a cold early in the week, so we laid low for some of the visit and got lots of good cuddle time in. I, unfortunately, did a horrible job documenting this trip - we'll have to wait for all of Nana's pictures! I did go to Town at the zoo, though. Here are some of the highlights!

Elephants - they're Really Big!

Giraffes - Katie's favorite, for sure!

Big polar bears

Clara's first snow cone - it dripped red on her tummy and it looked like she got stabbed by the end of it!

I love that look of confusion/awe - what are those things? Monkeys and gorillas!

Just as we were leaving the baby gorillas starting playing together - the coolest!

Clara had such a Wonderful Time with her Nana. When Nana left to go home to Florida on the airplane, Clara got so, so sad. We came inside and she just started crying and crying with an occasional burst of "Bye Nana!" followed by more tears. I was crying, too! It was so sweet and sad to see her understand that her Nana went bye-bye. I think they got really connected on this trip and, obviously, had lots of fun together. After she calmed down, all she wanted to do was lay in her crib with her bunny and listen to music - she stayed in there for over an hour! Something she's never done before - what a sweet little girl.
